Random drug testing, cocaine, public employee, policy and procedure

Melvin Mayo, a deputy with the Fulton County Sheriff's Police Department, appeals a lower court's decision that upheld his termination from the department. Mayo was dismissed after he tested positive for cocaine in a random drug test.

The trial court upheld the police board's decision to terminate the deputy. Mayo now appeals.

Mayo loses. The Georgia Court of Appeals affirmed the decisions of the lower jurisdictions.
