Dorothy Jennings, an employee of the Uniroyal Plastics Company, brings a discrimination suit against the company. Jennings claims to be the victim of racial discrimination and retaliation by company officials upset with her for filing complaints with federal authorities. Jennings was once dismissed by the company, but an arbitrator ordered her reinstatement. Jennings contends that subsequent disciplinary action against her was a form of retaliation.

This is the first judicial review of this case.

Jennings loses. The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana ruled there was insufficient evidence to support Jennings' claim of discrimination or retaliation.
