James Ezack appeals his dismissal from his position with the Nutrasweet company for refusing to submit to a random drug test. The company contends the drug screening was in line with its drug-free workplace policy. Ezack argues the company's employee handbook constituted a contract between the two parties.

The U. S. District Court, Eastern District, of Michigan, Northern Division, ruled that Ezack was an at-will employee and could be discarded at Nutrasweet's discretion. Ezack now appeals.

Ezack loses. The U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth Circuit, affirmed the district court's ruling.
