Case Summary:
Dog Essence Saladin Amin, an inmate at the James River Correction Center, files a motion for production of documents, a motion for perjury sanctions and a motion for time extension to make prepare a summary judgment motion. Two months after Amin was granted parole, but before he was released, he tested positive for drug use. Prison officials rejected his parole. Amin charged that the state's drug testing procedure violated his rights. Prison officials responded with a motion for summary judgment.

This is the first judicial review of this case.
Outcome:
Amin wins. The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, Norfolk, granted Amin's motion for a 30-day time extension to show his incarceration had been invalidated. The court ordered all other motions held until Amin submitted his motion for judicial review . The court stated that if Amin's motion failed to prove his incarceration was invalidated, the other motions would be declared moot.
