Kirk Taylor appeals his conviction of making false statements in connection to the purchase of a firearm. Taylor, a Maryland resident, accompanied two Virginia residents to two gun shops in Virginia. At one of the outlets, the Virginia residents purchased a firearm on Taylor's behalf. Taylor was prohibited by law from purchasing a firearm in Virginia because he was not a resident of the state. Taylor and the others were later arrested and charged with making false statements during the purchase of a firearm.

The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia found Taylor guilty of all charges. Taylor later claimed the court erred in admitting evidence concerning his past drug use and documents related to the gun shop's status as a federally-licensed gun seller. Taylor now appeals.

Taylor loses. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit affirmed the actions of the lower jurisdiction. The appeals court found no reversible errors in the decision of the lower court.
