Probable cause testing after an accident/incident. Random breathalizer and urine testing from a computer generated database. Followup testing for first offense violators. Termination for second offense. Testinf is mandated by the federal government due to the danderous nature of the job, and the risks involved to the public from hazardous chemicals. The Federal railway Administration stipulated the required frequency of random tests according to the percentage of positives. Many employees feel the tests are arbitrary and used as a harassment tool against those not totally loyal and compliant to the company objectives. There has been widespread instances of abuses of testing system. Some employees have been tested dozens of times since the testing began in 1985, while otheres have never been tested or only one or two times during this same period. |
